Best believe me when I tell you I’ve been struggling to write this post since January, the procrastination has been real. I got around to writing it this morning, but it didn’t get saved and I lost it. Yayy! On a serious note, it’s taken me this long to write because gathering my thoughts has been a struggle. I’m praying this post comes together in the end and I get my message across to you perfectly.
In my last post, I talked about Shows you shouldn’t bother watching. In this post however, I’ll be talking about people that annoy me, no hate cause love ti take over you know, just things I’ll prefer people not do. I get annoyed by religious people, you know those people who follow religious rules and condemn those who don’t. Since I’m christian, I can only speak from the christian perspective but I hope everyone can relate. If you know the bible, you know it says that “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.
If this is the case, I don’t understand why some Christians pretend to live perfect lives after coming to Christ. They judge others, and in doing so, many have been led away from God. I cannot count the number of people who have told me they’ve been hurt by the church and that is the reason for their disbelief. We need to do better as God’s people since we are only striving to live perfect lives like Jesus did. Don’t forget that Jesus was always dining with sinners and telling them about the kingdom, not condemning them. Remember we were just like them, the only reason we are different is because of forgiveness, which we need to portray.
Truth is, you probably will face more obstacles as a believer than you did when you are not. This is simply because Satan is furious, and he will try whatever it takes to lure you back to him. Being a believer is not an easy ride, it takes work and constant reminder. One thing I know is, Christianity is a lifestyle and not just a religion. It is living life the way God (our creator) intended us to live it. Being a Christian is about developing a personal relationship with your maker because he has allowed you to. Knowing to seek his face even through trials, because he is the only one who can help you go through life. I don’t know about you, but life made no sense to me when I didn’t really know God. I yearned to know why life existed and what my purpose on earth was.
What Christianity is not is following a set of rules to please God. You cannot just pray, read your bible and go to church in order to check off items on a list. You have been saved by grace and even when you sin, you can always ask Daddy in heaven for genuine forgiveness on the spot, and you’ll be made brand new. Also, transparency is needed among Christians. We need to be able to tell people of our struggles, and not lie in order to seem perfect (lying is sinful remember?).
When you share your battles of sin with other believers, they might be able to help you through it. When you share your struggles with unbelievers, they realize that being a Christian does not mean you have to be perfect, it means you are striving to be perfect with God’s help. What you should not do is try to justify your sins by thinking it is okay to act them out with no consequences.
That’s it guys!
I hope to do more of these type of posts often, because there’s a lot to delve into as Christians and as humans. I hope we can help others by sharing this post. I have more posts like this here and here. Have a beautiful week people!
