No one loves social media more than me. Actually that’s a lie, a lot of people love social media more than I do. The point is, I am a sucker for social platforms (God bless those innovators), especially Instagram because I share experiences, pictures, and connect with people easily on it. However, I’m not oblivious to the sunken hole that social media can become. I know this because I’ve almost gone there. Not knowingly, but I started using social media as a coping mechanism when something wasn’t right within. It was easy to recognize that I was getting to this point because I’ve always known how to balance my media presence and state of mind. I never allow people’s posts phase me because I know it’s the best part of their lives, and everyone hides the bad. However, I wasn’t thinking about all these when I needed the socials to take my mind off reality. I’m not sure if this happens to other people, so let me know of your experience. For the past year, God has had a lot to teach me about relationships. Not just romantic relationships, but every form- friendships, colleagues, classmates, family and sibling relationships- you name it. I’ll write several posts tackling each kind of relationship, but the one that’s on my heart at the moment is friendships.
Quick background: I enjoy being around people, and I make friends easily, but I’ve never been one to let anyone too close. As I’ve noticed, a lot of worldly friendships are this way.
We humans are so helpless that we don’t know how to build real friendships without Gods’ help. We build surface level friendships, and avoid getting to know each other deeply, or we share too much about ourselves to the wrong people. We gossip, laugh, even have fun together, but our souls hurt inside and we never share. As long as the faces we put up look fine, and we slay together, we’re good right? For long I pondered this question: Why are a lot of Christians not as powerful as Christians used to be and can be? I’ll read my bible, and see power that Christians like Paul and Peter exhibited, and I’ll ask God why I don’t have the same power. Even before Christ came, men like Daniel and his friends experienced Gods power. I know that God is still as powerful as he was then, because he does not change. This knowledge drew me to the conclusion that we are the problem, that I am the problem. Surely, it is me doing something wrong if I do not possess the power that God has made accessible to Christians. Continue reading “Life in the Spirit”

2017 is a wrap! Thank you so much Jesus. I am in awe of you God, and this is my ode to you as this year comes to an end. I love you God, not because of anything I am but because of everything you are. I love you because you have have given me the privilege to know you. I didn’t do anything deserving to experience the greatness of my wonderful creator, but you chose to honor me with knowledge of you. I am standing here because you made a way, and I can’t thank you enough. Continue reading “A THANK YOU ODE TO MY FATHER”
I thought a light post might do us some good this week. I realized I wore the same coat differently for my last two birthdays, and I want to hear your thoughts; what do you think of how I styled both looks? I love the effortless, elegant look I got from my wear last year, but I think I love the sophisticated look I wore this year even more. However, the decision is up to you, and I would love to hear your thoughts.
My coat is from Missguided.com Continue reading “My Style || Elegant Vs. Sophisticated”
Woow Woow woow! That is all the words I can find to sum up what a year 2017 has been. I’m writing this post a couple of days to my birthday and let’s just say I’m reflecting a bit on this year. This extremely fast and worthwhile year. I am not one to make new year resolutions, although I should try making a list this year (to see if they actually work). I am one to pray to God for a theme for my year, and the theme for 2017 has been “Finding Peace.” The kind of peace that does not rely on success, other peoples’ acceptance, relationships, and perfection to be fulfilled. Growing up, I looked forward to Sundays because it meant getting dressed in a cute gown for church, and eating yummy dinner. These things were great, but I loved Sundays mostly because I longed for the praise and worship session at church. In my little head, worshiping God was possible only through worship songs, and it was the only way I thought I could feel God’s presence. I grew up with this mindset ever since, until last year. Did anyone else grow up with this mindset? Continue reading “Let’s chat || True Worship”
It is such an honor to be recognized and nominated for the Sunshine Blogger award, by my blogger friend, Koz of Koz diaries. The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are inspiring and bring sunshine into the lives of their readers and fellow bloggers. To accept the award, I have to write this post by answering some questions, and nominate others. Isn’t it funny that I got nominated for the sunshine award the day I wore my sunshine dress, anyways, I digress.
Let’s get into it, shall we? Continue reading “I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award!”
Can you guess what this post it about? Eyyyy, you guessed it…. I’m back with another style post! Fall season is upon us (even though I’m feeling like it’s winer), and I’m sharing some of my favorite fall wardrobe pieces with you. I’m hopeful that you’ll find something you like here. I will also put links to stores where you can purchase these items or similar.
First item on the list is a pop of colour leather jacket. I don’t remember why I bought this jacket; all I know is that I got it, and wore it only once because I thought it was too bright to be worn everyday. Fast forward to this year, and everyone seems to be wearing a bright leather jacket, from mustard yellow to blues. I decided to bring out my red jacket and I loved how I styled it here, so I’ll say it’s a must have. You can also be subtle and opt for a black leather jacket. I got this jacket from Express, almost three years ago, and they still have it, go grab yours. Continue reading “My Style || Fall Wardrobe Essentials”
