There’s really no point to this post, but I was going through my random notes and got reminded of what I wrote about Ephesians 4:30 two months ago. It’s a short writing I always go back to for encouragement and I hope it encourages you today. Have a fruitful week!
“And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.” – Ephesians 4:30
Ephesians 4 Verse 30 sticks out to me in the passage. Just thinking of how much our sins affect God. He grieved the day Adam and Eve made sin enter the world, he grieved when he had to die to save us from the sins we commit by ourselves. To think that even after being saved by him, his spirit within us still grieves because we are sinful makes me feel so ungrateful. How can God not have given up on me after everything, why does he still love me like this? Why is he so committed to the renewal of my spirit to make me like him? It’s because he’s so gracious, and I never want to take his grace for granted. So I pray everyday for God to help me walk in his steps and make me more like him. Looking forward to the day our redemption story will be complete (when he comes again) and our new bodies come. Bodies that won’t be prone to sin, so I don’t grieve God anymore, he’s been through too much for me.

When you become a believer in a world that is forgetting God, and choosing to live life the way it pleases, it becomes easy to see the world in its broken state. It’s like you are given fresh lenses that enable you view the world differently. When you begin to see this brokenness, it’s easy to lose hope in God’s redemption plan sometimes . You start to take some of the worlds’ burden upon yourself, and it becomes too much to carry. I can’t count the number of times I thought to myself and prayed that God will just come back already. However, remember that we aren’t called to carry the world’s burden. Jesus tells us this instead; “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” The only burden we are called to bear in Christ is his, not the worlds’.
Don’t be depressed because the world is in a sad state, it is not surprising. The world has always neglected God and done whatever it pleases, but the hope we have is that God’s redemption story isn’t over yet. He calls out to his people amidst the world’s chaos and restores them back to himself. There is beauty that lies within the ashes, and I’m encouraging you today as much as I am encouraging myself.
So what do you do on those days when all you hear is bad news about crime, murder, terrorism and so on?
This is what I do: Continue reading “How to live in a world devoid of God’s presence”
I know I know, the title of this post sounds all fancy and official, and I have my friend, Sophia to thank for that. She suggested that I write this, and it surprised me that I never thought to write about prayer before. I probably thought I had something similar up since prayer is so dear to my heart, but I guess I was wandering in dreamland. You might have noticed that every religion has elements of prayer in it. That’s because if you believe in God or something greater than yourself, you understand the need to put your hope and trust in the entity ruling over you and the whole world, an entity that knows and controls everything from past to the future.
Prayer stems from accepting that you need to worship/ reverence God, and make your requests known to him. It is casting your burdens at his feet and letting him take care of them. You pray because you are fighting battles against demons and principalities that you cannot see. Prayer time is a time to bask in the glory of your maker, and allow your heart experience his mightiness. Prayer opens doors, moves mountains, breaks chains, soothes your soul and allows you to feel God’s presence constantly.
Think about it this way, God Almighty has given unworthy you unconditional access to approach his throne of grace and mercy, and you ought to take full advantage of the privilege. Here’s a simple definition of prayer by Dr. Ralph Martin that I love; “Prayer is at root simply paying attention to God.” It is humbling yourself, accepting that it is not about you or your situation, but it’s instead all about God and his glory. This is what we are created for anyways, to glorify God!
Now that you understand why you need to pray, let’s get into the practicals of making prayer a lifestyle: Continue reading “The Underestimated Power of Prayer”
Welcome to another week, and thank you for stopping by the blog. Last week, Jess (our favorite guest blogger) and I discussed the problem of Anxiety and those ‘Blah Moments‘ that we experience. Both topics resonated with me and prompted me to write this post.
I can’t speak for you, but as a Christian, my whole wiring is based on my belief in God and his purpose for me. My anxiety stems from not trusting God enough, and forgetting that he has all things figured out for me. This might be your reality too if you think deeply. Like me, you may want to trust God completely, and depend on him one hundred percent.
My former thought that anxiety cannot be cured has changed radically since my last post. I am now a firm believer that anxiety can be gone completely just like Joan said in response to me. I am experiencing for myself that it’s only a matter of trusting God and his purpose more. This happened through constant study of God’s word and conviction by the Holy Spirit.
The tips below are tips that are helping me build my trust in God. You might have heard them before and this is just a reminder. It is my hope that as you read on, you realize that faith and fear cannot coexist, faith must ultimately win.
Over to the tips;
Believe that you are right with God: A lot of times you think there is something you do that makes God pleased with you. Before you can trust God, you need to know that he is and has always been interested in you. When he sees you, he doesn’t see you as an unworthy sinner, instead, he sees you in the righteousness of Jesus, the child in whom he is well pleased (God is pleased with you!) Matthew 3:17. He loves you, and you did nothing to earn that love, so there is nothing you can do to un-earn the love. Accept that God loves you, is pleased with you, and you have been made right with him because Christ died for your sins. If you hold on to the devil’s lie that God is angry with you because of sin, you will let him win by not enjoying your father’s truth and grace which you need to trust him. Confess your sin and receive God’s forgiveness. Continue reading “Trusting God more| Practical Tips”
I was watching a video yesterday, and it bordered around discussions of faith, especially the christian faith. Many of the discussants gave up on their faith when questions arose, and they were okay with it. This reminded me of a time in my life, about two years ago when my faith started to waver because I had questions. So many questions about God, Jesus and the world, constantly wondering if He really existed. I thought my questions would never be answered, that it was absurd to question my religion, and I almost gave up believing but in the end, I was undoubtedly proven wrong.
It is okay, quite normal to have questions, you won’t be normal if you didn’t. We are humans, and have been blessed with reason, so we are naturally curious especially when we can’t see what we believe in. It’s not okay however to wallow in your questions and not purposefully look for answers. This is when doubt starts to creep in, and in order to doubt your doubts, you need to have solid answers. Remember, even satan knows the bible, and he’ll use it against you. Why not use it against him instead.
There are evidences that God exists everywhere, there are historical evidences that prove Jesus existed too. So, if you have been wandering and doubting, and would like to get answers to some of your questions, leave a comment. If I have an answer, I’ll write a detailed reply. If I don’t, I’ll let you know, do some research, ask other people, and get some. Maybe others in the comment section can help us out too. You might even be able to help someone, so ask away. Best believe me when I tell you I’ve been struggling to write this post since January, the procrastination has been real. I got around to writing it this morning, but it didn’t get saved and I lost it. Yayy! On a serious note, it’s taken me this long to write because gathering my thoughts has been a struggle. I’m praying this post comes together in the end and I get my message across to you perfectly.
In my last post, I talked about Shows you shouldn’t bother watching. In this post however, I’ll be talking about people that annoy me, no hate cause love ti take over you know, just things I’ll prefer people not do. I get annoyed by religious people, you know those people who follow religious rules and condemn those who don’t. Since I’m christian, I can only speak from the christian perspective but I hope everyone can relate. If you know the bible, you know it says that “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.

Happy Sunday everyone! Oh, and happy almost valentine my loves. It’s the season for love, and almost every post and video out there is describing the perfect gift, date and bae. Sorry to disappoint you, but today, I’m taking a different approach to this. Have you guys ever thought about your relationship with God as a huge commitment? I mean do you ever sit down and reflect on how your relationship with God is, like you would analyze your relationship with your family, friends or significant other. I have learnt to do this every time, realizing that my walk with God is a constant and conscious journey helps me not to get lazy and take it for granted. When I live my days forgetting this, nothing seems right, my heart weighs heavy, and I feel like I’m fighting with my partner. This is probably because I’m not connected with my most significant partner, so I feel guilty and tired.

Hi everyone! I know I know, not all of you are in the mood of reading a blog post today but wait. Don’t shut me out just yet, this post isn’t about me today, it’s about all of us. I know a lot of you are disheartened, confused, disappointed and heart broken and trust me, I get you. But in the midst of this chaos, it is very easy to forget that this election period was merely another chapter in this long story book of the world. I am reading this new book (picture below) by Devon Franklin, and I was encouraged by some of his thoughts and I thought I would share with you guys what he wrote. Trust me, this is in relation with what is going on with the world! I hope you are encouraged.
“For years, I pondered this issue. I wondered why God needed us to serve him at all. He created everything. Why does he need me or you to fulfil his plan for the world? Couldn’t he just wave his hand and create the world that he envisions? Why ask us to serve and then put us through trial and tribulation? It didn’t make sense until I thought about the idea of God as a storyteller, and then it occurred to me- he is making us stronger and better by allowing us to face conflict, overcome obstacles, and learn from failures. Remember what 1 Corinthians 10:13 says: “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you through it” (The Message) Continue reading “Just another Chapter”
Happy Monday!!! Hope you’re as excited as I am this morning. It’s the start of a new week so hopefully you’re optimistic about the week ahead. I slept like a baby last night and apparently there was a raging thunderstorm that had my roommates in panic mode but I slept through it all. I feel like I can even sleep on water at this point and not realize. Okay, I’m rambling off again and I’ll stop now.
Anyways, where my Bellanaija crew at?I attended a wedding this weekend and I was so excited about it. It was my first Igbo traditional wedding and I was looking forward to the cultural aspect especially the part where the bride looks for her fiancé with a cup of palm wine. As usual, when I told my friends about going to the wedding, the banter was to go there and look for bae lmaoo. I even have a friend whose Dad makes her attend weddings to find a future husband. It’s hilarious and I love the banter.
I absolute love weddings, they serve as huge reminders of God’s purpose for us; to love, be loved and procreate. It is very easy to forget this purpose especially with the devil attacking the institution of marriage lately. We are witnessing a rampage of broken homes, divorce, violence and mistrust. Personally, I became discouraged a while back and decided that true love does not exist anymore but then, I prayed severely about it and decided that my story is not everyone’s story. As long as I put God first and keep the faith even if the devil wants me to lose it, my own husband will come at right time.

Last night was rough for me, I laid on my bed in the middle of the night feeling down, my body ached for no reason at all, my phone and laptop were acting up and my face was itchy. Continue reading “Positivity breeds Positivity”
